The Ukiyo-e is printed on Echizen kizuki hosho washi (a unique kind of Japanese paper) handmade by Ichibei Iwano, a living national treasure. This makes the vivid colors and the soft, warm textures of woodcut prints come to life.
This print is widely known for its effctive use of fine linear depiction. The diagonal redges of Mt. Fuji, seen in the distance, cross the straight lines of the upright timbers creating an uncontrived effect of perspective.Three men are working diligently in the foreground., completely indifferent to the beautiful sight of Fuji, Note the contrast between the movement of the men and the quietude of the mountain.
