The greatest appeal of woodcut prints created using traditional Japanese printing techniques is the brilliant colors. Woodcut prints from the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints are made by master artisans using washi paper and water-based pigments with the methods passed on from the Edo Period. At our showroom in Mejiro, located 10 minutes from the JR Mejiro Station, visitors can experience the allure of such woodcut prints.
The Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints has created reproductions of some 1,200 works of ukiyo-e to date, as well as contemporary woodcut prints produced in collaboration with today's leading artists. Such works are exhibited and sold at our showroom. In addition, there is a permanent display demonstrating the production process of woodcut prints. Our staff plan and prepare special seasonal exhibits for our visitors to enjoy and look forward to welcoming you at our showroom.
At our showroom in Mejiro attached to our printmaking studio, the staff have expert knowledge about the products and the production process. Please feel free to consult with the staff, who can help you select the perfect piece that meets your needs or find the ukiyo-e you are looking for.
The works on display at the showroom are available for sale. Credit card payments are accepted. Some works can be taken home on the same day. (*Please note that some works cannot be carried out immediately after purchase. Please contact us in advance if you wish to take a work home with you. TEL: 03-3951-2681)
